Big Bear Lake on New Year's Day

On New Year’s Day, we drove up to Big Bear Lake, which is about a 2 hour drive from LA. It was a chilly 27°F that day and a snowstorm a couple days prior had covered Big Bear in a blanket of fresh powder. (Who says it doesn’t snow here in Southern California?!)

We applied Musher’s Secret wax to Hoku’s paws to protect his pads from icing up and put on his slightly-too-small Billy Wolf dog coat to keep him warm. A true double-coated dog at heart, he had a blast plowing through all 6-8 inches of snow, totally undaunted even though the snow reached his belly on some parts of the ground!
